The science of signs.
Three categories of Semiotics:
- Iconic - Looks like what its representing
- Indexicle - Cause and effect
- Symbolic - Something we have to learn
The symbol used here is the outline of a female to represent a place that only a female can go. This is a symbolic sign due to us having to learn which areas we are allowed to go in for both males and females and how they are symbolized.
